Undertaking renovation work often involves large sums of money. Fortunately, some assistance programs have been implemented to ease the financial burden on homeowners. Here is a brief overview of the grants and tax credits available for your foundation work.
Offered by the Government of Quebec, the Rénovert tax credit is available to individuals who carry out eco-responsible residential renovation work.
It applies to qualifying residential units for the 2016-2019 years and the maximum amount that can be claimed is $10,000. Please visit Revenu Québec’s website for more information.
Residents of Montreal can benefit from the Major Residential Renovation Program to renovate any component of the building that requires renovation.
To be eligible, the work must involve at least one of the following components: structure, foundations, electricity, plumbing, exterior siding or doors and windows. The minimum cost of the work must be at least $15,000. Please consult Ville de Montréal’s website for more information.
Some municipalities also participate in the Rénovation Québec program. Administered by the Société d’habitation du Québec, this program provides financial assistance to municipalities wishing to support their residents in their residential renovation projects. For more information, please contact your municipality or the Société d’habitation du Québec.
